  • Integrated mobility: Co-designing in partnership with disabled people and industry stakeholders an inclusive regulatory framework for micromobility and mobility aids.  
  • Eco-ableism in transport: Exploring how eco-ableism materialises in the UK’s approach to sustainable transport design and implementation. Co-designing with disabled people and transport professionals an alternative approach to sustainable transport policy development that considers accessibility and sustainability as complementary, not competing priorities is possible.
  • Co-production in transport: Co-producing a co-production toolkit for use in the transport sector.
  • Building inclusive low traffic neighbourhoods: Understanding perceptions and experiences of low traffic neighbourhoods and co-designing guidance for inclusive low-traffic neighbourhoods with disabled people and transport professionals.
  • Cambridge Connector: Understanding user requirements and co-designing automated passenger services that are inclusive by design. 
  • PediCAV:  Understanding disabled pedestrians interaction with connected and automated vehicle.
  • ncat scaling innovation: Advising organisations and innovators on inclusive research, meaningful engagement of disabled people and inclusive mobility.
  • Making the UK Deposit Return Scheme Accessible: Understanding disabled people’s requirements for reverse vending machines as well as motivations for us to help shape the design requirements for inclusive reverse vending machines. 
  • Designing accessible in-vehicle wheelchair restraints: Co-designing a new restraining mechanism for use in any wheelchair accessible vehicle.
  • Expert accessibility assessor: Assessing innovation grants for Connected Places Catapult
  • Re-imagining retail: Understanding the impact of inaccessible retail on disabled people’s and co-designing accessibility retail guidelines.  

Department for Transport - Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles

  • Great Self-Driving Exploration: The largest study on public perceptions and expectations of self-driving vehicles in the UK. Focused on understanding public requirements for future deployment and evaluating mechanisms for building trust in self-driving vehicles. A User Centred Approach to Designing Future Self-Driving Transport Systems: Evidence from Public Trials and Engagement
  • External markings on automated vehicles: Understanding the impacts of external markings on automated vehicles on road user interaction to identify potential implications on road safety and accessibility of both users and non-users of these services. 
  • International perceptions of the UK CAM sector: Understanding perceptions of the UK’s Connected and Automated Mobility sector by key international automotive stakeholders.
  • Automated Vehicle Driver Responsibility in Vehicle Education Group (AV DRIVE): The collaborative group launched by the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles to ensure accuracy of understanding of automated vehicles and their capabilities. Including the development and testing of the Automated Lane Keeping System educational toolkit, as well as updating and cognitive testing changes to the Highway Code.
  • Technical advisor: Working with each CCAV funded R&D project to advise them on best practice research and user engagement principles. As well as technical research advisor to academic, industry and public sector projects. 
  • CAM 2025 Strategy: Building the strategic evidence to inform the CAM 2025 strategy, leading the development of CCAV’s theory of change and responsible for the delivery of the programmes of public understanding and public engagement.
  • Future of Transport Deliberative Research: National deliberative research programme exploring: perceptions of safety of connected and automated vehicles and minimum safety requirements for public trust; the role of Mobility as a Service in encouraging the uptake of more sustainable modes of transport; perceptions of shared mobility services, particularly ride sharing and shared transport to explore incentives to promote a return to shared mobility in a post coronavirus environment.

TRL

  • Understanding perceptions of safety on the Strategic Road Network: Helping National Highways understand the factors that influence perceptions of safety of diverse road users of the strategic road network (SRN) and building a behavioural model to help improve both customer experience and road safety on the SRN. 
  • Driver Intentions and Behaviour Industry Toolkit: Building a toolkit for National Highways to help them embed social research and behavioural science within their everyday ways of working.
  • Addressing Cybersecurity and Cybercrime via a co-Evolutionary aPproach to reducing human-relaTed risks: The project aimed to develop and validate a framework through to analyse the behavioural co-evolution of cybersecurity/cybercrime ecosystems and effectively influence behaviours of a range of actors in the ecosystems in order to reduce human-related risks. Privacy in Transport? Exploring Perceptions of Location Privacy Through User Segmentation; A socio-technical and Co-Evolutionary Framework for Reducing Human Related Risks in Cyber Security and Cybercrime Ecosystems 
  • Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention Programme: Identifying key causes contributing to collisions or incidents involving commercial vehicles and developing interventions to reduce these risks, including informational and educational campaigns and a VR training tool for learner and novice drivers.
  • Understanding the relationship between mental health and transport: The first study to explore the relationship between mental health and transport in a non-clinical sample in the UK. Identifying and understanding the impact of mental health on driver behaviour and travel mode choice, as well as the impact of existing transport systems on mental health.
  • Review of the Inclusive Mobility Strategy: Building evidence to support the Department for Transport in developing it’s updated Inclusive Mobility Strategy, including the inclusion of mental health for the first time ever.
  • Customer Compliance Strategy: Supporting National Highways with the development of their new customer strategy. Working with diverse stakeholders and users of the strategic road network to develop an implementable strategy that helped them work towards meeting delivering their customer compliance framework. 
  • Vehicle and Human Machine Interface design: Simulation studies and on road trials evaluating the impact of vehicle design and human machine interfaces on driver attention, distraction and overall road safety.
  • Young driver fatalities in London: Understanding the factors contributing to young driver fatalities in London and shaping behavioural interventions to target these contributing factors.
  • Understanding and influencing driver compliance: Helping National Highways understand the factors that influence non-compliant behaviour on the Strategic Road Network and identifying interventions to address this behaviour.
